The Ledger
The Ledger is my living record of the Generate By Design project. It’s a living record of the garden as it was, as it changes and as it grows.
The Ledger gathers the history of my garden, all my garden experiments and outcomes of Generate By Design. I look back through the former garden, tell the story of creating the native garden, follow how that planting has established, and record the productive layer I’m growing within it.
It follows the garden as it is built, planted, harvested and lived with over time. Some entries document the physical work of making the garden. Others record what is growing, what is being harvested, and the observations that only emerge through tending a place closely.
Together, they form my evolving account of a garden designed not simply to look beautiful, but to produce, adapt and teach me how to thrive!
The Build
This section of The Ledger describes what is designed, made, installed, arranged or established in my garden.
The Yield
This section of The Ledger shows what the garden and its systems produce and make possible.
I show you what is actually happening in our garden, including growth, failure, weather, seasonal changes and how plants perform.
The Harvest
is what is actually gathered, cut, picked and brought in to the house to enjoy.
Shed Notes
is where I document the principles, methods, references, practical knowledge and design thinking worth keeping to help systematise how the garden produces.
LATEST SHED NOTE
SHED NOTE 001
1 SEPTEMBER 2026
Generate By Design takes shape again in an Australian suburban garden already rich with native planting. This first Shed Note begins the public record of a garden already evolving, from its established native planting to the productive layer now growing within it.
Gardener’s Plot
This is where I interview people who love gardening as much as I do. I want them to show me their garden. Stay tuned!
